Under WHS legislation and the applicable traffic management codes and standards, traffic control arrangements must be set up in accordance with an approved Traffic Guidance Scheme or Traffic Management Plan and inspected at setup and throughout the shift to confirm compliance is maintained. The checklist records task details including site and project name, TGS reference number, traffic controllers, client and principal contractor, setup and pack-down times, and type of works covering day, night, weekend, and out of hours. The setup checklist confirms the approved TGS and TMP is on site, signage is placed as per the approved scheme, speed limit signage is in place and correct, cones and barriers are placed as per the scheme, cones and delineators are retroreflective for night work, traffic controller PPE meets Class D for day and Class N for night, lighting is adequate at site and approaches for night work, two-way radio communication is confirmed working, pedestrian access is maintained and safe, emergency vehicle access is maintained, stop and slow bats are in good condition and used correctly, and traffic control plates and boards are clean and legible. The ongoing checks section records time, checker, and issues or comments throughout longer shifts, and the pack-down checklist confirms all signage, cones, barriers, and delineators have been removed, the road surface has been reinstated, and the site has been left clean and safe. It is used by traffic management companies, road construction contractors, and utilities crews across road works, construction site access management, and any work activity that requires a formal traffic control arrangement on or adjacent to a public road.
